Cybersecurity Trends in the Agentic Era: Google SecOps Meets Wiz, Joined by Fraud Defense

Our team touched down from Google Cloud Next ’26, and honestly, the whole experience was unforgettable. You could literally feel the momentum on the event floor, but the biggest aha moment was just how fast this technology is advancing right now.
If there was one major theme that dominated the entire conference, it’s this. We’ve officially crossed into the “agentic era,” meaning the days of AI just waiting around to answer basic prompts are over.
The new reality is all about autonomous AI agents taking the wheel. They are now stepping up to deal with complex, multi-step workflows entirely on their own, sometimes running in the background for hours or even days without needing a human to hold their hand.
To help you get straight to the good stuff, we put together a breakdown of the biggest announcements across Google’s five main pillars. More importantly, we’re unpacking exactly how this new tech is going to change how teams actually get things done.
We’re rolling these out as a special blog series, so keep an eye out for the next drop.
When the sessions at the Google Cloud Next ‘26 shifted over to the cybersecurity trends, the reality check was pretty immediate.
For starters, let’s just say AI is totally changing how attackers operate. To stay ahead of that, Google joined forces with Wiz, tying its own Threat Intelligence and SecOps tools directly into Wiz’s security platform to build a much tighter, more unified defense.
Google and Wiz bring together Threat Intelligence from Mandiant, VirusTotal, and Google SecOps into a single operational security. These systems continuously analyze emerging attack patterns, identify security gaps, investigate incidents, and automatically remediate vulnerabilities before they escalate into critical threats.
At the same time, Google is strengthening the infrastructure layer itself through machine-speed firewalls, advanced network visibility, and strict AI access controls.”

SecOps: Automating the Response
Inside Google SecOps, the system constantly checks Dark Web Intelligence to spot outside threats, hitting a reported 98% accuracy. When an alert pops up, specific agents take over different parts of the job.
- The Threat Hunting Agent actively looks for weird, unexpected ways someone might try to slip past your defenses.
- The Detection Engineering Agent writes permanent rules so those specific tricks never work twice.
- The Triage and Investigation Agent handles the incoming alerts. This is a huge time-saver, as it’s already taken the time to analyze a threat from about 30 minutes down to just 60 seconds.

Wiz: Splitting the Work Across Agents
On the Wiz side, their AI Application Protection Platform handles everything from the initial code to the live runtime, and it works perfectly across multicloud setups like AWS, Databricks, and Salesforce. Just like Google, Wiz breaks the workload down across a specific team of agents.
- The Red Agent tests a risk to see if it is actually exploitable or just noise.
- The Blue Agent figures out exactly how much damage that threat could actually do.
- The Green Agent tracks down the root cause and walks your team through exactly how to fix it.
You control all of this through Wiz Agentic Workflows, which is a visual, drag-and-drop interface to tie all their jobs together.
The solution creates an interactive map of your entire cloud environment, including infrastructure, configurations, processes, and code, bringing everything into a single unified context. Thanks to this complete visibility, the system can visualize attack paths, investigate incidents, and automatically remediate vulnerabilities.”

AI Control Center
Google introduced a centralized access control panel to manage exactly how AI agents—including third-party tools—interact with your corporate data across Drive and Gmail.
You can now set strict allowlists and blocklists for Workspace apps, actively track which third-party agents are running in your environment, and pull a complete audit trail of every single AI action.
To keep your data private, this entire setup integrates directly with your Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system.
Upgrades at the Infrastructure Level
Down at the infrastructure level, the new Cloud Network Insights tool gives you a hop-by-hop map of your network traffic. This makes tracking down issues across hybrid setups a lot easier.
They also upgraded the Next Generation Firewall and Cloud Armor to react at machine speeds, specifically to catch fast-changing malware and known software flaws.
Finally, if your company has strict data privacy rules, Google Distributed Cloud now lets you run Gemini in completely offline, air-gapped environments. That setup is backed by serious hardware, running on NVIDIA B200 and B300 GPUs, new A4 VMs, and highly secure Confidential External Key Management.
Malicious AI Bots, Dealt With
Google also rolled out Google Cloud Fraud Defense to protect the agentic web. Instead of playing whack-a-mole with bad actors, it follows the trail across the entire user journey, from sign-up to checkout. That makes complex attacks too expensive for hackers to even try.
Fraud Defense uses standards like Web Bot Auth and SPIFFE to separate real users from bots and lets you set security rules on the fly based on live risk scores. And if you already use reCAPTCHA, you won’t even have to touch your current site keys.
This new product entirely removes the biggest headache for your users, which was forcing them to manually click through endless grids of traffic lights or buses. The validation now happens completely in the background. Most people will never even realize they just passed a security check.
The system only asks for extra proof if it catches some really suspicious behavior. In other words, if a request looks off, Fraud Defense steps in and prompts for a quick QR code scan or a biometric confirmation, like Face ID or a fingerprint.
For your websites and APIs, this brings a completely new tier of security. Fraud Defense is specifically built for modern attack patterns. It easily handles the massive spike in AI-driven traffic that older mechanisms simply cannot keep up with anymore.”

Ready to Make the Agentic Era Safe?
You already know the latest Google Cloud and Wiz capabilities are incredibly powerful. But technology alone doesn’t solve the problem.
The real value surfaces when you tune these tools exactly to your environment, your risks, and your specific compliance needs.
As a global Google Cloud Premier Partner and official Wiz Partner, Cloudfresh turns fragmented security into a single defense strategy you can act on.
- Run a full security audit across your entire multi-cloud and hybrid setup.
- Inspect your IAM, workloads, and system configurations to expose hidden vulnerabilities.
- Deploy Google Cloud and Wiz tools exactly as modern best practices dictate.
- Automate your threat detection and remediation workflows to speed up incident response.
- Secure your AI adoption with strict governance, access controls, and clear audit trails.
Whether you build from scratch or upgrade a legacy system, Cloudfresh shows you exactly how secure your environment actually is and flags the vulnerabilities that demand immediate action.
