Google Vids Gets Smarter: From Simple Videos to Scalable, AI-Powered Content

Creating business videos shouldn’t feel like a production marathon. As part of the April 2 Google Workspace release, Google Vids is becoming a more practical tool for teams that need to create content quickly, clearly, and with less manual work.

What Is Google Vids?

If you’re not familiar with it yet, Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation tool in Google Workspace that helps teams build professional videos for training, educating, onboarding, internal communication, product explainers, sales, and more.

What’s New in Google Vids?

The latest updates make Google Vids more flexible, more realistic, and much more useful for teams creating video content at scale.

1) Make Your Videos Feel More “You” with Customization

Google has expanded AI Avatars in Vids, giving users more control over how on-screen speakers look and sound.

Now you can:

  • Create avatars that better reflect your brand or team identity
  • Refine appearance with details like glasses, hats, outfits, or location
  • Adapt visuals for different markets and regions
  • Pick from seven voices to match the tone of your message

This is a practical update for teams creating repeatable video content, especially when consistency matters.

Available for: Business Starter, Standard, Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, Plus; Essentials; Nonprofits; Education Plus; Google AI Pro and Ultra.
Some editions have promotional access through May 31, 2026.

2) See Avatars Act in Scenes and Interact with Objects

This is one of the most useful upgrades. Avatars in Vids can now appear in different environments and even interact with specific objects of your choice.

That means you can create more dynamics for:

  • Training materials
  • Product walkthroughs
  • Company announcements
  • Sales decks

For example, an avatar can now present a product, appear in an office setting, or show equipment in a more realistic context, all while keeping the same face and voice throughout the video.

3) Export Directly to YouTube

Google Vids now lets users publish videos directly to YouTube, removing extra manual steps from the workflow.

Instead of exporting an MP4 and uploading it separately, you can send your video straight to YouTube from Vids. All uploads are set to Private by default, so your team can review everything safely before making it public or unlisted.

A small update, but a very useful one for marketing, enablement, and education teams.

4) Screen Recording from Chrome, in One Click

The new Google Vids Screen Recorder Chrome Extension lets users capture walkthroughs, demos, presentations, and bug reports directly from the browser, with recordings up to 30 minutes.

This is a strong quality-of-life improvement for teams that need to move quickly and document processes clearly.
